The answer is to disable/not install door convenience buttons. For us with the legacy problem the option might be to go into the three doors and disconnect the buttons. Just hope they aren't integral on PCBs. Also, hope that won't raise an error.

I'll have to wait until end of warranty.

Its not very impressive as regards software functionality/flexibility. Manufacturers could have re-configured options to disable access by wireless as did Mercedes....maybe others? Although thats a production standard. Clearly they've sold their junk and simply don't care.

“With thieves having shopping lists of pricey premium models to target that they can steal using keyless 'relay' tactics, it comes as a surprise than some of these are sold for a fraction of their value. Vehicle protection and management technology provider, AX, claims that motor thieves are stealing some of Britain's most in-demand cars and selling them on the black market for between £1,000 and £3,000” - Dave 😉

Expensive stolen cars are being sold on the black market for £1,000 : https://mol.im/a/7800957

Some are caught on ship containers and off to Africa etc. Somewhere where VIN/registration isn't a big thing anyway.

Others are stripped here in UK for parts.

And so the Story goes On & On, another report on the Intelligent Key Problems - Dave 😕

Alarmingly, 14 of the brands contacted by Which? said they had not implemented any new preventative measures to tackle relay thefts. Manufacturers that have failed to bring in a fix include Citroen, DS, Honda, Hyundai, Kia, Lexus, Mazda, Mitsubishi, Nissan, Opel/Vauxhall, Peugeot, Renault, SsangYong and Suzuki.

So nothing has changed but I think it is still worth raising the point to keep members on their toes as the problem does not appear to go away. There are some good Tips mentioned in the attachment so it might be worth a read and some possible actions. From the recommendations I have done or use the following so far - Dave 🙂

London has seen biggest rise in keyless car theft in last four years : https://mol.im/a/8842943

Keep your key fob safe and place your keys or fob as far away from the vehicle as you can, and if possible keep them in a Faraday bag, which prevents the fob from sending digital signals that can be picked up by thieves. Don't forget about your spare keys and apply the same level of car you would to your main keys or fob - DONE (Minimium Outlay)

Invest in protection for your vehicle: A simple steering wheel lock or wheel clamp might look ugly, but are enough to deter even the hardiest criminals. These items typically require noisy drills or saws to cut through, and therefore often act as a good first line of defence - DONE (Minimium Outlay)

Locking the vehicle: It may sound simple but if your vehicle has keyless entry, make sure it is locked even if it's just for a couple of minutes when you're paying to park somewhere – thieves can take an unlocked car in seconds - DO IT

Driveway parking / chain posts are a cheap but efficient way of deterring would-be thieves due to the time Factor - CHAIN (Outlay Depends On Design)

Park place Lighting or Movement Lights - GOT THEM ( Lots of Options Cheap to Expensive)

Qashqai Model: Mk.3 Qashqai - J12 (2021+) New Model

The most stolen cars in the UK. There were 74,769 cars stolen in the UK last year (2020) – one every seven minutes and a 33% increase on 2019
10. Nissan Qashqai (previous version). Number stolen: 655

It will be interesting to see whether the new Qashqai has improved security? 🤔
