Ds mode when moving shifter to Manual (Sport mode??)

Hello! I have a DCT trans in my 2019 qashqai. I noticed that when you move the shifter from Drive to Manual without changing gears(-+) in the dash next to D it appears a small S. What does that mean? Does it mean Sport mode and should use it when I want the trans to be sporttier?
