When test driving the car, I was going 30-40 mph, when on 4th gear (I didn't check the other gears) I noticed that when letting go off the accelerator pedal, the 4th gear moves less than 0.8cm-1cm forward then backwards in under a second, this happens every time I let go off the gas pedal.
I've asked Reddit, some mentioned engine mount, and some mentioned gearbox mount, I made the dealership aware, and they tested it and said they are happy with it.
Unfortunately, I haven't test-drove any other Nissan Qashqai due to time.
Could someone let me know if this is normal behaviour or something major?
Another issue I wanted to bring up, when driving 30-40 mph I noticed some squeaking sound to the right of my ear, on this forum some people mentioned seat springs, some mentioned door handle needs WD40, some mentioned door sagging, the dealer tested it and could not hear anything.
The dealer, Coventry Mazda offers 12-month warranty on electrical and mechanical issues, there may be a diagnostics fee, could someone who drives 2017-2020 manual let me know if this is normal?
Edit: although the gearbox felt very smooth and new, it could be likely that I didn't put it in 4th gear properly? I'm not sure.
Test drove a 2019 Qashqai and have concerns about the manual gearbox, is this normal?

I have an early 2020 1.3 manual and can't say I've noticed this as an issue but there again I haven't been lookig for it either
I am off out on a run tomorrow and so I'll try to remember to check this out to see if I notice anything similar.
PS. Having had my current one for around 18 months I am pleased with the performance and fuel efficiency (but I'm not a biy racer) regularly getting around 50mpg when on a run using A roads, goes down a little if cruising at 70 mph on motorways though . Haven't had any of the issues mentioned on here with either Qashqai, except for the previous one having a dead battery after only 2 years / 15,000 miles. I now always (well 99.99%) switch off the stop/start before starting any journey as I am sure that is the main cause.

I would politely suggest that you test drive another manual car.
If necessary, walk away from the first one, if you feel that it might faulty.
Plenty of QashQai on the market

Checked out the gearstick when lifting off the accelerator today and cant see the movement that you describe. As others have commented, there are loads of Qashqai's for sale out there so pass on this one.

I just bought Nissan qashqai j11 from 2019 so around 4 years old, with 75000km , 1.3Dig T manual 140HP HRR13
I have noticed the same , most noticeable is in 3rd gear but also in 4th, the shift knob moves A LOT when pressing / releasing the gas.
I will take to the mechanic to check the engine mount , I also have strong vibration when the engine is starting up.

My Qashqai also has strong vibrations when starting up, I thought this was part of the packageazelod wrote: ↑Sat Oct 14, 2023 7:44 pm I just bought Nissan qashqai j11 from 2019 so around 4 years old, with 75000km , 1.3Dig T manual 140HP HRR13

Obviously I can't just tell them I have strong vibration and gearbox moving to claim warranty, they'll shoo me off so please let me know how it goes.

Hi guys, any update on the gearstick issues. I've just bought a 2019 1.3 with the same problem. I can actually see the gearstick moving when in 3rd or 4th when on and off the accelerator, especially around 30 mph. There's no noise or clunking just annoying when you have your hand on the lever. My friend has same model same year as me, he drove it and it's the same. Surely this can't be right.. can it ?

Just been out in mine and the gearstick moves no more than 2mm in any gear, any speed. Current mileage is 52,000.
Just wondering if you drive with your hand resting on it?
