Hi Mal82,
Same thing happened to my wife today. 2019 Qashqai tekna 1.3 petrol.
Garage said thermo housing at fault. Complete engine, clutch and fly mass wheel replacement £7500 at least.
No warning at all.
Happy to liaise with you and solicitor as we’re in the same position.
Thanks,

Either the members on this forum are extremely unlucky and we are seeing all the reports here, or these are failing on a large scale as this post has a number of failures within a matter of about 3 weeks, probably representing a very small fraction of those Nissan owners affected.
Very worrying.....

Hi Phatboy,
You have to assume that most people wouldn't take the time to search out this forum so the vast majority would be un-publicised episodes.
The inference above, given the part was upgraded, is that there's a known fault. No consolation for those models with the older thermo units.
Engine replacement is catastrophic and not a cost most household budgets can accommodate.
The complete lack of warning, which removes any chance of owner mitigation, is very worrying.

I'm going to monitor this thread for a bit, but come my next big road trip, Ill seriously consider replacing the housing for the revised version. For the cost and lack of warranty, it would seem silly not to.david sunderland wrote: ↑Fri Sep 08, 2023 7:30 am Hopefully this is not the start of another problem for NISSAN battery's / 1.2 engines burning oil
