Hi All,

Just had the car serviced and MOT’d at my local Nissan Dealership.

They included a leaflet on the new Nissan Good to Go ownership annual plan.

I’ve a 2015 1.5 DCi Tekna, with a plan cost of £43.99 per month. As I’ve just come to the end of my Nissan Intelligent Used Car servicing (2year), I am thinking about taking it up.

I was wondering if you had any thoughts about the plan. Dose it give “peace of mind” or nightmares on what Nissan are going to reject as warranty/service items. They for instance wouldn’t cover a new battery for the start stop fault , even though it had been on the car since the test drive?

I like the car, but give me, a Ford small Dealership over a Nissan One any day!

John

Let's work it out on diesel costs. £43.99 per month is £527.88 per year.

A Nissan fixed-price service costs:

Minor - £269 (petrol = £229)
Major - £369 (petrol = £329)

Your car is seven years old. When my car was three years old I had the following extended warranty quotes (four years ago mind!):

For my 1.2DigT Tekna on 19,500 miles the quote was starting 29/06/2018:

One year/80,000 - £377
Two years/100,000 - £747 (that's an extra £370)
Three years/125,000 - £1207 (that's an extra £460)

The RAC cover is Roadside Only so that might not be enough for you. It's coming out at £104.50.

An MoT is maximum £54.85 albeit you can get one for much less than that - mine this year was done at ProTyre for £22.50.

So even taking a minor service and the cheapest extended warranty figure the total would be:

269 + 370 + 104.50 + 54.85 = £798.35 - with +£100 for a major service which ought to be your car's requirement assuming annual services had been carried out to date.

Assuming the small print of the warranty conditions appears adequate then it appears to be a significant saving, even if you didn't use the RAC element.

Note for all X-TRAIL models a monthly supplement of £7.50 or annual charge of £90 is applied to the package. All prices are correct at time of publication and are subject to changes at any time without prior notification. Nissan Motor GB reserves the right to update, change, add, amend or withdraw the offer without prior notice.

It would be worth checking that an "annual service" includes either the Minor or Major as required by the service schedule, so you don't just get "palmed off" with a Minor.

To be honest if that had been available when my car was three years old I'd probably have kept the Qashqai and paid the £479.88 petrol rate.
