Replace Connect 3 with Connect 4?

I have a '67 plate J11b with a Connect 3 HU, and (like a lot of people!) I am looking for an upgrade. Kind of scared of the 3rd party ones for compatibility reasons, but I was wondering if anyone had replaced a Connect 3 version with a Connect 4?

Does anyone know what the process is for replacing a head unit, even if it were a standard C3 like for like replacement? Could this be done DIY or do you have to get the dealer involved?

Welcome to this forum.

It's possible apparently - check out the relevant posting elsewhere on here that goes through the issues.

Well as I read you're looking more for a plug & play solution rather than modifying electrics in order to stay as "from fabric" as possible.
But know that the 3d party solutions are plug & play and that there are loads of tutorials online to be found, while the Connect 4 isn't compatible at all and needs quite some adaptations in order to work. Only few here managed to upgrade from 3 to 4.

Just saying... ;)

Thanks for the responses. I’ll have another look, but I couldn’t find any tutorials for currently available 3rd party head units demonstrating complete compatibility, particularly with the cameras. The Qashqai Guys YouTube video on installing a Connect 4 seems to imply it is very straight forward, apart from the lhd camera issue.

Are there any examples of Connect 4 installations on this forum? search rejects Connect as a search term since it is too common 😗

I usually find that a site-specific Google search is more efficient and effective
