Pictures of old cap. If you can see coolant on the edge of cap so my idea is it was coming out of here. Could be faulty cap

If the leak remains elusive then add a dye to the coolant and you will find the leak

I took it to 2 garages and both confirmed no leak.

Coolent doesn't always go into the oil system when a head gasket fails. It can go from a coolent passage directly into the combustion chamber.
If it is loosing quite a lot of coolent, white smoke will be evident coming from the exhaust.
Can you get someone to follow you in another car?
Use all the rev range at slower speeds. Avoid high speed roads as the smoke won't be seen.

If it was the cap, I think there would be more of a mess than just that

Good call , but if there is a water leak to combustion area , then often the cooling system becomes overly pressurised.
A sniffer test in the expansion tank will rule out this.
If still with a pin hole some place , or a waterpump bearing passing coolant when hot
