J12 Quiet Whining

Been driving my J12 1.2 158 for around 3 weeks, done about 450 miles. It's great the only thing I've noticed and I may just be a bit sensitive but when you apply light pressure to the accelerator there's a whining noise, as soon as you take your foot off or apply heavier pressure it goes.

It's very quiet and could easily be dismissed, any thoughts?

Does that occur in all 6 FWD gears?

Definitely in the higher gears, noticed it most when driving along at motorway speeds and just feathering the throttle to maintain speed. Will experiment with lower gears.

Did some town driving on the school run yesterday using the lower gears, didn't notice the sound, but then couldn't cruise for long in the lower gears.

Is it the same problem the spanish owners are discussing here?

I can sometimes (audio off) hear the Gearbox/Diff gearing meshing at slow speed. Its either the front wheels or engine revs causing a difference in thrust on the gearing parts. Somewhat similar to a very elderly lorry...of days of old. Very low level.

I would of thought that any low level whine related to throttle change is gear meshing or bearings...through the drive train. I've experienced it much worse though in the past..on a gearbox input shaft bearing. Major wear on one side of the bearing race.

Similar, but not sure if its the same they say the issue occurs when they go above 120KPH, for me it seems to be any speed in higher gears when I am feathing the accelerator to maintain speed. It's almost like an electrical sound you might get from a light bulb about to go or a faulty power back from something. Could it be related to the mild hybrid?

Forgot this is a MH subject. That is an Inversion of DC to AC and probably about 300v AC. Perhaps that might be Inverter noise? Or electric motor?
