Up until a few days ago, I had never heard of www.bookmygarage.com A site where you can get quotes from local garages for servicing.

What prompted me to look was a phone call from my local main dealer, during which I asked for a price for just the oil and filter change. (The car had just about EVERYTHING done service wise just over 15 months/4k ago). I was quoted £99.

Went online and found the above site, entered my car reg number and postcode.

About 10 local dealers popped up, including, cheapest of the lot.......what they call 'Secret Service Halifax Nissan' at £64.29!!! To get that roughly 33% discount, the car had to go in that or the next day. (I'm retired and have the time). Turns out it was my local main dealers.....Bristol Street Motors, the very same who quoted £99!

Car went in the next day, and thats all I paid. Out of interest, using the next day 'Secret Nissan' comes in at just under £106 for a next day annual service, compared to booking with Bristol Street at just over £132!

I don't know if this is unique to Halifax, but I'm sure it probably won't be

If you have the time, and can arrange a next day appointment, maybe give it a go?

(I am in no way connected to bookmygarage.com)

Presumably having it serviced at the dealer also gets your "free" RAC membership ?

Unfortunately you have now lost your full service record and may have problems if there are any faults in the future.

A Qashqai needs an ANNUAL service not just an oil and filter change. You should have paid the extra - and £106 if it was for the proper full Nissan annual service is VERY cheap!

I wonder what extra they do in the annual service apart from change the air filter maybe ? And everything else would be just checks like a mini mot 😉

Just recently had a minor service at my main dealer and they took a video of the car showing everything that will need looking at soon. Like low pads on the back brakes, ok now but will need replacing soon, a bit of play in one of the suspension joints at the front, again all ok now but will need to be looked at before the MoT next year.
Past cars Mercedes B Class, S Class, E Class Estate, E Class Coupe, G Wagen, 260E interspersed with Peugeot 406 and Audi Coupe.

The oil change included a video health check, and a complimentary wash!!! As for losing my service record, it's a 6 year old which I will be running into the ground.....will almost certainly be my last car.
