Hello All,

I have the following model:-
Nissan Qashqai 2014 Tekna

I have for the last 2 years re-gassed the air con for this car. The first-year cost about £180. The second £140.
The first year the garage and I simply put it down to the need of topping up the gas, after which it worked with any issues.

The 2nd year I took it back to the same garage and they put in a UV dye to check for any leaks, upon handing it back they said they didn’t see any leaks but to bring the car back after 2 weeks which I did to get confirmed there were no leaks.

So here we are year 3 and driving yesterday 15 April on the hottest day so far on a bank holiday, the aircon was pretty non-existent.

You can here what I think is the compressor but the air is not warm, but certainly not aircon cold.

Any advice on what this issue could be would be much appreciated as we have a young child which without aircon prevents us using the car when hot outside as we cannot buffer him with the window open as much as would be required.
Also is this a Nissan Garage only fix, what would that cost?

Thank you in advance for any much needed help

The J11 air con problem is usually the compressor. My 2014 car was fixed in 2017 under warranty.

My 2014 QQ needed a new condenser, the factory fitted one is crap and fails all over. If you can see the condenser, you will see dark patches all over it, that is leaks.

Just received my third Qashqai.
Did approximately 59,000 miles in the first two, from new.
Neither required any regassing.
That said I almost never turn the aircon off, keeps seals, etc. "wet" and they remain effective.

Get the aircon radiator checked for leaks when you get the work done

That'll likely need the gas pressure guages to diagnose problem

Well the inevitable happened today on the way home from Glasgow, 20° outside, put aircon on and yes you guessed it, warm air blowing through the vents 😡
Was at the dealership last year with the same problem, looks like another phone call tomorrow morning.

Do you have an extended warranty?

Luckily we have an extended Nissan warranty, tbh the Dealership in Stirling have always been excellent with regards to faults and Warranty claims.
It was in with them I believe last August with exactly the same issue, hissing/gurgling sounds coming from the climate control unit (behind in the dash)
Warm air whilst Air-conditioning is selected, switch back to air (16°) and sounds disappear and cooler air through the vents.
I habitually run the Air conditioning at least once a week for 30 minutes or so to help keep things running properly.
When the car was last in, they couldn't find a problem? And since then it has worked ok?
The Nissan gremlins are definitely at play again. Hopefully Nissan will have a wee look at it after the Easter Holiday.

Great to hear you've got a good dealer. I found mine to be on a par with the BMW one - very difficult to get any action.

When we purchased the car last March (less than three year old) I admit it was not the best experience, but since the Perth Dealership closed we moved to the Stirling branch (same parent company) and we cannot praise them enough, they go out of their way to help out when things do go wrong, out of our 13 months of ownership, only two months have been free of faults and Dealership visits.
I think we purchased a 'Friday Afternoon' car.
Last Month the car was in to have all the anti roll bar bushes replaced (under warranty) we were supposed to get a Juke as a courtesy car, but they noticed that it was Mrs QQ's Birthday and upgraded it to a brand new J12 QQ.
