Does the j12 Qashqai have auto lock function that is one one that auto locks doors over a certain speed :?: I can't seem to see any reference to it in the manual.
Before Skoda Karoq SEL, virtual dash, heated screen.

Now: J12 Nissan Qashqai

No it doesn't

A nissan quirk that they choose not to provide that function although plenty of other manufacturers do...there are red herrings about EU law...but that would apply to every manufacturer. Just seems someone in nissan doesn't like it.

Is a strange one my Skoda had it. That's why I think the locks failed just before the warranty ended which got replaced don't know if it was because auto locks? I think we had a Citroen picasso that had it.

There's a brief mention of it on page 88 but it does state "where fitted"

You can get a plug in module that goes in OBD port which restores this useful function; I had one. :o
Got mine from Aliexpress.

It’s to do with a safety function because if you have an RTC and the locks do not disengage, it will cause you problems in exiting the vehicle.

... but one can lock the doors manually with the switch - so why do they let you do that?

I think I read that if airbags are deployed then the locks disengage at least in newer cars.

Why then if it is a safety issue do Volvo and other manufacturers provide that function in their new models. It's just a Nissan quirk perhaps based on an interpretation of legislation that all the other manufacturers have interpreted differently.

Not hard to work out which one is out on their own...Nissan

I'm sure there are parts of the UK where you are more likely to be robbed in your car whilst driving than have a sever accident in which airbags go off and doors don't open. Very selective view on safety IMHO.

I’m just going on what I was once told and that was the reasoning behind it. It could easily fail even if it was programmed to disengage following airbag deployment..
