If that remark is targeted at me, I have no thoughts at all apart from why you're discussing the subject. There may be other differences which aren't covered by the pure dimensional figures you're quoting. Are you suggesting they're cheaper if you buy J10 ones?

The cynic in me would suggest that, regardless of price differences, you should always buy and fit parts with correct part numbers which apply to your specific vehicle.
I picture an unlikely scenario where you are involved in a road traffic accident - definitely not your fault and luckily no one is injured but your car is a mess.
An insurance company paid engineer examines your car and finds you have fitted brake discs from a different model. In the doomsday scenario you are left with a lump of unusable vehicle and no payout.
I'm undoubtedly over dramatising but I still feel it might be a risk.

just to clear things up. front discs are the same size for both cars, rear discs are diffrent sizes. brake pads front and rear are diffrent on both j10, and j11.
hope you didn`t buy them from eurocarparts as there way overpriced even with the make belive discount code
Yes, my first thought was, on euro car parts at least, the discs although the same are cheaper on the J10 than the J11.gloucester wrote: ↑Mon Jan 03, 2022 10:19 am If that remark is targeted at me, I have no thoughts at all apart from why you're discussing the subject. Luckily I did not purchase them from euro car parts, merely using it as a spec guide.
I got a set of J10 front discs for just £15 delivered.
Just picked this up.
As far as part numbers are concerned - they will pretty much always change from model to model - even if they are the same part.
From a vehicle manufacture point of view - this is to assist on Warranty repairs.
So if you had the same part covering several different model years or variants - then it would be harder to track what year of car was causing a problem with that part.
Further more - when a new car is commissioned - it has to receive a Bill Of Material , and a Bill Of Process. This will be unique to that model , and assists in identification of parts applicable to that car , and its type approval.
Its just coincidence that some parts are the same regardless of the car or the applied year of manufacture.
