Hi Guys,

I was due to pick up my '65 plate Nissan Qashqai 1.6 DCI TEKNA (automatic) on Thursday - then Covid-19 hit and I am self-isolating.

My previous car was a 2008 Lexus RX400H so had lots of 'Boys' Toys' (no offence intended to our female members) and that's why I plumped for the TEKNA. I am used to the CVT gearbox and it is very annoying that the car revs like mad when you put the foot down before it reaches the higher speed, but I've read this issue will not be as big a problem in the Qashqai - I'm hoping someone can advise please?

Any time I buy a different car I join the Forums as they are a wealth of information, so I hope you can advise if I have made the right decision to buy a Qashqai over a Ford Kuga?

All being well I hope to pick up the car on New Year's Eve and I am really looking forward to taking it for a long drive.

Thanks

Hi Gloucester,

Thank you for your welcome to the forum. I had kinda hoped to gain some responses on the two topics I touched on - the CVT automatic gearbox and is buying the Qashqai a good decision on my part (I'm always nervous when changing to a car I've never driven before).

Can you advise please if I put my post on the wrong forum?

Many thanks

I haven't driven an auto Qashqai but have driven an auto Xtrail and that seemed fine.

Is it the right car to buy? Only you'll know that but at least you haven't bought the 1.2 version...

Hi Burroo

I used to own a 65 plate Qashqai Tekna 1.6 DCi (CVT), you haven't bought mine have you  ! I owned the car from early 2016 until June 2021, when I bought a new Juke. I found the CVT box to be fine, and to be honest gave a smoother and better gear change than the DCT box in the Juke.

I had a couple of issues with the car whilst in my possession, one being the faulty batteries installed in some Qashqais, and an oxygen sensor that failed. Both issues were dealt with under warranty by my Nissan dealer.

I really loved the car, and was not sure whether I was doing the right thing in changing to a Juke. Having owned the Juke now for 6 months, I am happy with it, but the Qashqai was a brilliant car, and I was very happy with it. I certainly notice the difference in MPG, as the needle on the diesel Qashqai seemed to take forever to drop from full to empty, but the petrol Juke is not so good.

I hope you enjoy your new car, and it would be interesting to hear how you get on with it.

Happy New Year!
Doug

Hi Guys,

Many thanks for the replies, makes my decision seem a sound one. I loom forward to participating in the forums and will report my progress with eth Qashqai after a few weeks deriving...

Thanks again and stay safe.

Burroo

PS: - I stay in the West of Scotland, Doug, so unless you sold the car to someone in Scotland it's doubtful :)

Ah no, it can't be my Qashqai. I part exchanged mine at Marshalls Nissan in Lincoln! However parts of my Qashqai is up in Scotland. I had only bought new mats for it a couple of months before hand, so sold them via the forum site to someone in Scotland, and I also sold the bonnet struts that I had fitted to another guy in Scotland via this forum.

Happy New Year to you

HI Guys,

That's me had the car for 7 weeks now and I am getting more fond of it every day. It really is a nice car to drive TBH and the mileage is superb.

Hi All,
I have joined this forum to try and get some advise on an ongoing problem i have.
I have a 2016 1.5 diesel, which i have owned for about 18 months. The car is fantastic with all the bells and whistles, drives great and powerful when i need it.
My issue is, the oil dip stick gets stuck as in i cant turn it to get it out. I took out an extended Nissan warranty and its been back in 3 times now. I asked then to change the components to stop the issue, (before my warranty runs out!) to be told new parts would not rectify it as it is a fault with this type of engine.
Is this correct and if so, what can i do to modify it ? Thanks in advance.

Welcome Mike

I had a 2014 Juke with the same engine and a 2017 Qantas with this engine and didn’t have any problems getting the dip stick in it out.

I think they aren’t telling you the truth but no idea what you can do about it !! Maybe try a different dealer, if you have one nearby
