Hi all looking at a purchasing a 2020 st-l Qq would like to get the opinions of owners good and bad. NZ roads are a mix of course chip and smooth asphalt and road noise is/ can be a problem is. The comfort is another item of concern also have read a few reviews but as usual these are the top model ti. Any help much appreciated merry Christmas every one.

If road surface is a problem , then I suggest you avoid 19 or 20 inch wheels

The cars ride and handle well on 18 inch alloys

The ST cones with `7" wheels, "your" ST-L car comes with 18" wheels, whereas the Ti has 19" - *. That's similar to the UK situation for Qashqai variants wheel size needlessly increasing through the trim levels. I'd suggest the ONLY measurable benefit is appearance, the current obsession with larger wheeled cars continues unabated.

That said I had a Tekna with 19" wheels and it wasn't any worse than the predecessor Fabia's 16" ones. And the ride in my current car, on 16" wheels, is no better either.

So the Qashqai is reasonably engineered to ride on larger wheels, but then UK roads are probably much better much of the time than NZ ones. I only have experience of Australian ones, and found it rather amusing there if rather disconcerting to find that when hurtling along a normal tarmac road you'd occasionally suddenly go onto gravel! We have ZERO gravel public roads here.

In the U.K. the lowest trim level of QQ comes with 17 inch wheels.
They don’t look as good but you get lots of rubber between you and the road surface.
If these are available in NZ you might be able to source a set and hopefully you will get the ride quality you are seeking.

I’ve only driven there on two long holidays (4 weeks each time) and was glad to be in a hire car on a number of occasions where the road builders seemed to have run out of tarmac !

Hi Mike here in NZ the majority fall into 3 options the ST base model with 17" wheels bare trim and no whistles, my ride at the moment
The st-l 18" wheels and few more bells and whistles then the Ti 19" wheels and all the options Tekna I think in the uk
Yeah still have a few places like that here and if caught unawares ones driving skills are tested chuckle chuckle.
My concerns is by the time they released the 2020 model had they done anything to reduce the road noise, improve the seating comfort etc.
The reviews I've read only mentioned thicker glass so hence asking for opinions of owners.

The 2020 model is not much different as far as we are aware. Bear in mind though that your cars come from Japan not the UK (AFAIK) so they may differ slightly anyway in that respect.

Have no doubt that people may import them from Japan second hand.

Our QQ cars are designed for European road conditions of course. So its built of general/standard parts as regards suspension etc. Internal comfort...not a lot of room in there to change much at all I suspect. Road surface quality does require my finger on the audio Vol button from time to time. My 1.6L engine is very quiet indeed.

I think you would need to test drive one...its rather subjective.

I used to place car comfort across the range of Bath chair to Park Bench. My QQ heads off to Park Bench from the mid range position. Am joking...its ok

hi all well have bought a 2020 St-l travelled 9,580km. Was unable to get a blue one so settled for white instead we got acquainted on the drive home some 514 ks. This thing burbs, churps and beeps at one with all the warning systems it has. A good read of the manual to see what can be turned off. Have started to put my own person touches to it already.
