Hello everyone.
First post, let me know if this is not allowed.
I got an amber check engine light on my 2016 Qashqai.
Checked the code with OBD II and it looks like something to do with Engine Coolant Bypass Valve.
Does anyone know where the coolant bypass valve is located or how does it look? I would like to inspect it first before taking it to garage.
P26A3 code

Welcome to this forum.
I don't recall that code being discussed before. Let's hope someone will be along shortly who can advise.

P26A3 doesn't appear in Nissan diagnostics, nor does any Coolant Bypass Valve (DTC). This could be engine type specific. OBD codes (DTCs) are often manufacturer specific and require a bespoke reader.
Coolant Temperature would likely cause an ECU DTC to arise along with engine control warning. Is the Temp reading about normal?

Thanks for your reply, coolant temperature seems fine. Although, I don't really drive a lot to notice any difference TBH.
Car is 5 years old with 20,000 miles.
I'm using the OBD II scan tool. See picture attached.
Took it to the garage, mechanic charged me £96 to tell me the same thing.
Says he'll order parts but unsure how to fix it? He's never done one before.
I am thinking about taking it to Nissan, but conscious it would cost me a lot more to fix with OEM parts and labour.
I just want to know if I fix it myself and save some money. I am capable of slight mechanic works.
Would be great if anyone could point me in the right direction.

Stating which engine is involved might help

https://zinref.ru/avtomobili/Nissan/004 ... SH/179.htm shows:
Engine Coolant Bypass Valve
Engine Coolant Bypass Valve switches the flow passage of engine coolant. This valve is controlled by Engine
Coolant Bypass Valve Control Solenoid Valve.
Engine Coolant Bypass Valve Control Solenoid Valve
Engine coolant bypass valve control solenoid valve is controlled by ECM. The solenoid valve controls negative
pressure given to diaphragm of engine coolant bypass valve. When engine coolant bypass valve control sole-
noid valve is activated, it opens solenoid valve and gives negative pressure from vacuum pump to diaphragm
of engine coolant bypass valve.

Refer part 11 for the solenoid

Thank you @gloucester
Would you happen to know where the "Engine Coolant Bypass Valve Control Solenoid Valve" is located?
Its very hard to figure out from diagram to actual engine.
I appreciate your help!

No - I've been looking through those pages and can't trace it further than the images already shown.
Those may not even relate to your car since you still haven't told us which engine you have.

Part of one of the Engine (petrol) diagnostics states this. Seems to be for a faster engine warm up?
SYSTEM DESCRIPTION
The engine coolant bypass valve circulates engine coolant within a narrow range and accelerates a warm-up
by closing the valve and cutting off the engine coolant passage.
ECM applies power to the engine coolant bypass valve control solenoid valve when engine coolant tempera-
ture is low.
The engine coolant bypass valve control solenoid valve switches the passage of negative pressure (vacuum)
sent from the vacuum pump. When power is applied to the solenoid valve, negative pressure is applied to the
engine coolant bypass valve. Accordingly, the engine coolant bypass valve closes.
Again the DTC mentioned is not present in diagnostics.....P26XX is too high a number? P25XX is the limit and no other DTC refers to this solenoid.
Its difficult to imagine a fault arising here because the function is that the ECM controls coolant warming within a narrow range...Not a lot.
