I have noticed a "rough engine" sound, when car is cruising - ie not high rev, If you nurse the accelerator it doesn't occur. It sounds a bit like an exhaust blowing kind of noise but is not there at high revs in 1st or 2nd gear, only 3rd and above.

I have taken to a local garage who have said its the clutch but havent been experiencing any clutch failure issues - so not sure it is that. Before I go spending £100’s of pounds on something it may not be just wondered if anyone had any ideas?

Car is 2015 Tekna Model 1.6 Diesel

Just a few questions to see if it can be narrowed down:

So if you're going along and the noise happens, what happens when you disengage the clutch?

It happens in all the higher gears? Does it happen at the same speed no matter what gear you're in? Or at the same revs?

It happens when the revs drop below 2000 in any gear, it sounds like a rough noise almost like the engine is struggling to function - as soon as you put the revs up again the noise stops. Strangely enough on icy mornings the noise doesnt happen until engine is warm. It is due a service could it be a blocked filter?
