I think so, the maps are visible on the dashboard only when you have begun a navigation.

Correct, and also only the nissan navigation software is able to display the map on dashboard. Android auto or apple carplay maps wont be visible on the dashboard.

Does anybody know which cars (BMW, VW ...) CAN show Apple Carplay and/or Android Auto maps and navigation on the digital dashboard (and HUD) ?
I know about (Google OS) Automotive (EV) vehicles, but others ????
At least we now know that using the AAWireless (indiegogo perk) dongle we can also have Wireless Android on the 9" infotainment screen (but of course not on the digital dashboard either).

I think so, the maps are visible on the dashboard only when you have begun a navigation.

Oh no...that's pretty awful. My current car shows the map on the digital dashboard all the time...the setting I chose. Will be quite miffed if this isn't on the new QQ....that's got me thinking of plan B...abandon new QQ and stick with current.

The QQ J12 does not allow for anything but in-car TomTom navigation to be shown (I tried it at the dealership, so I am quite sure of it)
Unfortunately a software/firmware update is not going to handle this (implementing such a feature after release would be a first for any car infotainment system ... that I read about anyway).
It might theoretically (!?) be possible (for the J12 QQ) but I sure wouldn't keep my fingers crossed !

Hi, I confirm that the maps are visible in the dashboard only through the integrated navigator .. no Android auto or Apple car play

Just to dot the t's and cross the i's, here’s a question.

On my J11B Google maps, etc. show on the SatNav/Connect screen as does the built in system.

Can I assume that this is the case with the J12.

I don’t care about it not being shown in/on the dash or the HUD as I rarely glance at the map whilst driving, relying on the verbal commands.

It's a pity...I often use maps without navigation when I'm stuck in a traffic jam, to find some shortcut. However, I assume that maps w/o navigation can be visualized on the central screen, at least...

Yes, map can be seen on the central display without navigation.
