Heater Blowing cold

Hi all new poster

Apologies if this has been answered but I’ve been looking around the forum and so many different issues that it’s kind of hard for a novice to diagnose any fault with my wife’s car.

She has a Qashqai+2 2011 1.5 DCi and the heater seems to have stopped blowing hot air and started to blow out just cold air.

I have checked the anti freeze level and topped up and even put some of the rewold stuff in just in case and still it blows out cold.

She has the dual climate control and the fan works just 0 heat and the temperature gauge get up to the middle, the car isn’t overheating or anything, we have been to Wales and the east cost in it the last 2 weeks.

Is there something glaringly obvious that I could check before I have to take it to a garage? I have seen others having issues with heater motors etc but I don’t think it could be that as the fans are actually working

I’m just unsure where else to try and don’t have the money to waste so was attempting to look to see if it’s anything simple.

Cheers for any help anyone can offer or point me in the right direction.

Rich

Its very difficult to diagnose at distance.

Good Air Flow indicates that the air ducts from air inlet to cabin outlets are not blocked. That tends to eliminate the air filter.

Primarily you need to check if the engine cooling system (hot water) is entering the cabin aircon/heater system. Is hot water passing through the cabin heater matrix unit (heater core) ? I think its two pipes close together entering the cabin from behind the engine. That could eliminate the matrix as being blocked.

After that there are mechanical flaps that control air entering the said system and partly auto controlled by sensors. No easy fix.

How high is the temperature gauge showing? It may be as simple as a faulty thermostat which is not allowing the engine to get fully up to temperature.

Apologies about the late reply been trying to get this fixed and have had it at a garage who have flushed the system and said it could be a possible egr fault as both pipes from the thermostat are hot and the water pipes are pressurising and trying to get a quote from them to fix the car is terrible like they don’t want the fault or the money/hassle to fix it🙈

Bought this car not 3 months ago for 4K as the wife was expecting twins and now it’s nothing but money and headache and now the twins turned up can’t have them in the car as too cold 🥶🥶🥶 😥😥😥

If anyone know of any Nissan specialist or of any good garages around the rugby/Warwickshire area I would be really grateful

So after reading up on this issue and experiencing my own issues of the car only blowing warm, I decided to try a few things, first of all when the car is hot feel the 2 coolant pipes running through the fire wall into the car heater, if these are hot then that's a good thing, (one will feel hitter then the other as its flow and return)
I changed the thermost and still only blowing warm, then I read about the cars outside air tempreture sensor, I unplugged this and the care heater got hot again, £20 for a new one on ebay, (try this first as it's the cheapest foxed and worked)
Hope this helps.

Is the heater control valve electrically operated - it will be worth checking this

Hi all

Just bought a 67 plate 1.6 dci tenka + and I love it apart from I'm getting a really cold draft at my feet. My heaters work fine and blow really hot from all vents and if I put my hand down under towards the footwell under the steering wheel I can feel warm air on the left side however its overpowered by cold air but i cant tell where or what is csusing the cold air, my feet end up freezing. Any help would be appreciated

Sounds like a sensor or a distribution flap or flap stepper motor - you need to get the fault codes read
