“Following a successful summer launch, Nissan’s All-New Qashqai has returned to the top of the sales charts in September as the UK’s best-selling crossover, according to figures just released by the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders. The third generation of Nissan’s trail-blazer recorded a healthy 4,108 registrations, representing almost half of the 10,586 new Nissans sold during the month. What’s more, Qashqai was the fifth best-selling model in the UK overall, and helped Nissan record a 4.3% market share.” - Dave 👍

Hopefully we’ll start to see a few more new J12s on the road soon. On the Facebook groups, about half a dozen people have now received their new J12s after a 3 month wait, similar to my experience.

I have just checked the SMMT website and Tesla has jumped straight in at number 1 to be the overall best seller in the UK(?) for September 2021. This fits in with what has been mentioned in the news that interest in electric cars has increased dramatically.

Can’t help thinking that Nissan should have had a full hybrid, at least. With the new Sportage due out soon, they may struggle.

There's zero point in Nissan even considering a full hybrid Qashqai of any description now. hybrids are already out of date.
I think they should just keep going with the Qashqai as it is, then just let it die a death and the Ariya will take over.

Hybrids really aren’t dead, at all. The RAC said that around 70% of the population can’t have a full electric car as they cannot charge. This government is doing nothing to help the situation.

" ... just let it die a death and the Ariya will take over ..."
5 years from now the Ariya is worth nothing since new battery tech will make 2021 EVs old news.
Maybe also an ICE, but surely anyone considering buying any (private, not lease-) EV in 2021 is, IMHO, going to experience a lot of problems to ever sell it at an acceptable price.
The mild hybrid QQ OTOH may still be worth quite a lot in most European countries !
(OK, not the UK and Nordic countries because of strict 'ECO' laws).

The Qashqai has jumped to number 3 in the UK sales chart for October but Nissan sold 1,280 less compared with September, although we know the reason why :|

The Tesla Model 3 has disappeared altogether :?

Nissan’s new car registrations (UK) were down 35% in February 2022 compared with February 2021. They only registered 1,468 cars in February 2022 covering all their models.

The Qashqai doesn’t even feature in the February 2022 Top 10 Best Sellers, or in the year-to-date sales :(

Overall, February 2002 was a bad month for all car sales.

So the entire Nissan range only sold three more cars than the number of Vauxhall Mokkas! Says it all. Dealers must be FUMING !!!!!

The number of Nissan dealers has been steadily falling for years.

I find the following figures:

2014 - 203 [ source: https://www.statista.com/statistics/312 ... ingdom-uk/]
2017 - 197 [ source: https://www.statista.com/statistics/312 ... ingdom-uk/]
2021 - 168 [ source: https://www.motortrader.com/%3Fp%3D310978]

... so just under 9 cars each per month,
(2015 Nissan Qashqai Tekna DIG-T 1.2 sold 15/6/18) ~ 2018 Suzuki Ignis SZ5 - 2018 Yamaha MT-07 ~ (2024 Volvo EX30 ordered)

Seems a lot of best sellers over the past 3 years has changed completely. I can only think this may have in part to do with the global shutdown and chip shortage. Some cars that were not even selling that well are now hitting the top 10.
