New Engine ......missing cover ??

Hi All.
I have a 2016 tekna 1.2 petrol which has just had a brand new engine fitted as the other one imploded on the M1 ten weeks back. Luckily all covered by nissan extended warranty.
Having collected my car I lifted the bonnet at home to inspect the works, and something didn't quite look right.
It was missing an engine cover which I could swear was on the previous.
I emailed the dealer and they said 1.2 petrols don't have a cover , is this right ? Was I imagining my previous engine had one ? Or do the newer engines, assuming mine was recently off production line not come with a cover ??
Any advice ? Thanks

1.3 j12 engine doesn't have a cover and it makes the bay look messy something I notice from my Karoq.

Weingels, we had a 2014 QQ J11A for 5 years without an Engine Cover, Yes it would have looked much better !. Also our newer QQ J11B does not have one and ..... - Dave 😉

Thanks .....the dealer said the 1.2 never had an engine cover .....but I could have put money on it that my old one did.....must be going mad.
Why would these specific engines not have a cover , apart from looking neater do they serve another purpose ?

A cover can help with acoustics but it takes up room and costs money.

You could always have tried Google:

Thanks all. Confident now that I must have been imagining a cover previously.
