Hiya,
We have a 2010 Qashqai 1.5 Dci here in Ireland.

The cruise control is intermittent.. sometimes won't come on at all.. then when it is on it will suddenly disengage.

Brought it to a Nissan dealer for a looksee.

They charged €50 and sent the wife home with a report that says "Suspect issue with spiral cable supplying power from switches/airbag to control modules. Recommend replacing spiral cable €325 fitted"

Could anyone throw a bit of light on this? Whats a spiral cable?
Is it whats shown in this video?

And what would you think of the price quoted?

Thanks

I didn't watch the video right through but I think you're on the right track - it's more usually called a"clock spring" and you can see pictures at https://www.google.com/search?q=qashqai+clock+spring

Don't suppose anyone would be able to tell me the right part number ?
Presumably I'd have to pull the steering column apart to get at it and find the existing part# ?
They're are probably load of different ones knocking around are there?

Thanks yeah, I was just hoping to get the part in-hand before I go taking the steering apart.
With the time that shipping is taking for stuff these days I could be lookin at havin the car off the road for two weeks while I wait for the part.
(which means I would have to do the school runs.. yeek)
So I was just hoping to get the part before taking the steering apart.

Anyway.. thanks everyone.

It I fairly easy to do yourself if you're confident with tools. It's just a case of removing the airbag and the steering wheel. I had to do mine as the cruise control would disengage, the horn wouldn't work properly and some of the steering wheel buttons wouldn't work.
