Music usb not recognised, any recommendations?

Hi all, so I've tried a few usbs in my recently purchased qashqai - none of which are being recognised.

To make sure it wasn't a an issue with the usb port itself, I tried using an iPhone wire and phone which was picked up fine and started indexing.

I've tried maybe 2/3 SanDisk UBS so far between 32gb and 64gb, formatted as fat32.

Some were full of mp3s, others with just one song to test.

I noticed similar posts have been created before but I still couldn't find a solution. I wanted to ask if anyone can recommend any specific usb sticks that are working for them so I can buy that specific one and test?

Any other general advice/info would be much appreciated.

Thank you

I only tried two but both were recognised without issue. The first was an unbranded freebee. The second - which I'm still using in my Ignis - is a SanDisk Cruzer Blade 32Gb:

HI. HAD THE SAME PROBLEM WITH MY CAR 2012 N-TEC+. HAD THE USB PORT REPLACED BUT STILL WOULD NOT PLAY USB. THE ANSWER IS TO USE AN SD CARD WITH A CARD READER AND IS RECOGNISED EVERY TIME. HOPE THAT HELPS

Thanks do you mean like a usb stick that has an SD card reader built in on the side? As the only SD slot I think I have is for the maps? Have you got an example link so I can see please?

Thats an interesting approach to the perennial problem of USB sticks variously connecting to these half baked headunits or not...usually not. Noticeably most USB sticks work flawlessly on Windows or Linux but Nissan head units not so much. Theres a multi step process (Enumeration) for a USB master (host) to connect, recognise and install the correct port driver to handle the USB device (slave). As pic below....simple NOT.

I have Kingston and Sandisk (various) USB sticks and all work flawlessly on Windows and Linux OS. Only the Sandisk (Blade) at max 8GB works on my 2017 Nissan LCN 3 box.

I have a USB multi Card reader which I'll try today with the pile of SD cards I have...on the Nissan box that is.

...........

Thanks for the detailed info, can you please let me know how you get on with the multi card usb reader as I don't have one to test with thanks.

Attempted a test with a SANDISK ImageMate All-in-One USB 2.0 Reader/Writer (SDDR-189). Using a 32GB Sandisk Ultra Micro SDHC card.

Result was complete fail....dead. The headunit was unable to power the reader/writer. However, this is a reader/writer and not reader only.

As regards the readers I see on eBay. I have no idea whats in them..anything from 4 wires to a small interface ...don't know.

The rig I used..reader/writer/sd card/USB cable (1mtr) works perfectly on Windows/Linux. So I have to say this appears to be a headunit power weakness and meaning its under specified for standard USB operation. Causing USB stick recognition failures?

The iPhone test uses a device powering itself..not so the writer/reader.

Anybody that has a reader only that works...let us know please.
