Do anyone know if a new car is registered before it hits the dealership? Just seen a lorry with three 71 plates head towards my dealership, two ceramic grey n-connectors and one black, Wondering if they are new coming in!

Hoping one is mine

It’s the dealer that will register the car not the factory.

Usually, dealers only register the vehicle once it's on their forecort. They won't normally do it until a few days before collection.

Ah I didn't think they'd come in with plates on.
Never mind.

Thank you :)

Update..

Dealership have rang and said that the backhold have gone down from 40 to 13 so the waiting times are reducing and car will be ready by March latest. Not sure if the back hold is all dealerships or just mine.
So may be useful to some of you. May not!

:)

After delivery how long did it take for the dealer to ring to see how your getting on with the car?

It's a long time since I've posted. I ordered a J12 Tekna mid September.
I was given a delivery date of 21/01/22 (today).
Not a single phone call or email from the dealers since the order was placed.
The only responses I have had are from my own inquiries.
It's not a great experience . 4 months down the line and still no news.

That’s pretty crap, my dealer has been great at staying in touch - despite not having definitive news to share.

I ordered my Tekna mid September also, my dealer has kept me informed, latest news was that it is still showing for delivery in March. Whilst he couldn’t promise, he was optimistic that as we are getting close to March it wouldn’t get put back.

I suppose it's possible that if a dealer has more than one outlet, they take in and register them at one and trailer the cars to another.

Alternatively it may be hire cars being delivered?
