Morning,
I'm on the lookout for a set of winter wheels for my 2019 tekna, does anyone know from what year did nissan use the tps system as I think I'll need them on the winter wheels, if I fit a set without the tps sensors would I get a warning light on the dashboard?
Thanks for any info.

Hi, we had a new 2014 QQ J11A Tekna and the TPS Valves were Installed, I believe this was the year of introduction.
Living in Germany we have a spare set of Winter Wheels / Tyres and yes here the TPMS System has to work along with the Tyre Valves, if they are defect it is a “Fail” and I believe the UK is the same. I believe now that whatever is installed to a vehicle it just has to work - Dave

Hi, I searched the winter wheels article on here now, it's my alloys I want to protect(tekna) I don't really need winter tyres. We get snow but not so much as to need winter tyres. So I'm a bit concerned about the tpms sensors..I I fitted a set of 17" alloys say from a juke or older qashqai are you guys saying I need to fit nissan tpms sensors or will ordinary ones do?

If you just want to protect your Alloys then it is a Clean Up / Scratches Treated before the “White Worm” Sets In / Polish & then a Sealant Job, but do not forget you need to treat the Insides also, not easy to see or clean. Over here we are lucky despite having to have 2 Sets of Wheels or M&S Spec All Year Tyres, at least Salt is NOT allowed to be used on the Roads - Dave
Winter is hazardous for cars from slippery roads that can send you careening into a kerb, to hidden potholes caused by the cold weather. You also have to contend with low temperatures and salt on the roads. Make sure your wheels (and paintwork) are prepared for winter. Most alloy wheel manufacturers will have a preferred sealant. This is a product that will help to protect your wheels from the salt and dirt on the roads during winter. These sealants work much in the same way that wax works on the bodywork of your car and are great at protecting your alloy wheels. They create a barrier against harmful contaminants to reduce corrosion.
If you have very expensive alloy wheels but don't want to store your car for the winter, consider a winter set of wheels. A set of steel wheels running winter tyres might not look great but the extra weight will help with grip and you won't be too upset if you do come across an errant kerb or pothole. Make sure you drive carefully, watch what you're putting on your wheels, use the right kind of protection, and prepare for winter. This will help to protect your alloy wheels.
I would think that providing the cheaper TPMS Valves rather than the Nissan Originals are Compatible with the QQ they should be OK. Ask your Nissan or Tyre Dealer to double check.

Thanks for the reply, yeah I've bought some sealer, the tekna wheels are mint and I'm going to try to keep them like that. I'm gonna buy winter alloys and so the tekna wheels will avoid the winter hazards . I was only concerned about the tpms but I think like dave says as long as I get wheels from 2014 on I should be ok

Its UK Law to maintain a working TPMS (where factory fitted) and will be an MOT fail if defective. Safety.
The problem is that non OEM sensors particularly won't work with the Nissan system when simply installed with a tyre. On vehicle TPMS has to register/recognise the ID of the installed sensor which will happen with a Nissan sensor. That requires either a Nissan dealer or specialised non OEM configuration tool. The specialist TPMS tool that works with Nissan we don't know of.
Its a very awkward problem related to "Safety".

Hi, for me though, mot is in June, so it'll have the tekna wheels on at that time, but I'm intend to look for acenta premium alloys so surely they will have the nissan tpms sensors already fitted

Hi, I think when the cars are built, the ecu, wiring etc is just all installed plug and play, there's nobody registering things and programming ecu for various tpms sensors, so I think if the sensors are working it'll be fine.
