Hi everyone,

I just got a 2014 Qashqai with a 4×4 system. I was looking specifically for a 4x4 model, since I'm adventurous and go to the mountains often, during both summer and winter under all conditions. I'm aware this is not an off-road vehicle with a real 4x4 system, lockers, and all that, but would like to see how other people use it within its capabilities. I was looking for more information and experiences on the 4x4 system both on this forum and around the internet but didn't really find a lot of comments/info. I also read what's available in the user manual.

How do you guys like the 4x4 system? Does it improve the stability in the rain? When do you use the "lock" mode? How do you like the system on gravel roads and snow conditions? Give me some info!

What tires do you use? I was looking into Continental ContiCrossContact LX 2. Looks like they are good for highway and gravel roads as well. And yes, I'll also get a set of winter tires as well. Do you have some recommendations?

Definitely makes it more planted. I wasn't 100% sure initially but this video sold it for me.


I've not used the lock mode apart from testing it out as i've had the snowfall, but note that it only works up to 30mph and also turn off if you turn sharply.
