Ignition knob issue

Hi all, I have just got my car back from its MOT test and unlocked the door with the key fob as usual. Sat down went to turn the ignition knob/switch to start it and it is locked solid! In the end I had to unfold the key from within the fob and use that to start the car. The car used to making a beeping sound whenever a door opened and now this has stopped aswell. The central locking is still working fine and the car drives fine but I am confused as to why it has suddenly done this? I have ordered new batteries for both key fobs as neither seem to be recognised once I am in the car. Any suggestions gratefully received. The steering lock is defo not on! Many thanks
