Rust on brake discs

I have a QQ on deposit and I’ve been looking at others recently.

I’ve found a ‘19 Tekna that seems to have rust on the brake discs. Am I correct in thinking this will probably be surface rust due to being sat stationary while in the dealership? Will this come off with normal use or would it need new discs? How much would they be?

Thanks

Rust forms very quickly on unused pads, it'll soon clear once its driven.

YYY, just as Pandjh has stated. Here is an old post on the same subject for you to read. Also just go into “Search” enter “Brake Rust” and you can read more, it forms quick and goes quick once driven - Dave 😉

I had it as well on my previous Qashqai, which was almost daily driven though.

When you apply the brakes, the pads form very small scratches on the disc and being made of steel will show surface rust almost within hours if conditions are right.
