satnav getting lost

qq 17 plate 1.6 - went for a drive yesterday, put postcode into satnav, all going well until I hit an accident spot and got diverted, followed road which wasn't a new road, still had old type sign posts, but according to satnav I was driving in the middle of nowhere, found a pull in cancelled route and reset postcode and lo and behold the road I was on appeared
