My Qashqai is a 2013 diesel. On the way back from holiday the red engine light came on and my husband suspected a decrease in power when trying to accelerate (however, boot was also very full so it's a little unclear). We pulled into the services and called our breakdown. Once the breakdown arrived, the red engine light was no longer showing and his (low level) diagnostic machine didn't show any error codes. However, to be on the safe side, we chose to have the car recovered and I'm now waiting for it to be seen by our garage next week. Has anyone else experienced this? In June it was seen by a garage as there was a hissing noise from the exhaust and the warning light was on. Garage fixed the issue. I'm not saying it's related, it's just to give a bit of extra info. Thanks.

Welcome to this forum.

I'm not technical but there's little there for others to comment on. Let's see if someone asks a targeted question.

The loss of power when the red engine light comes on is probably down to the engine going into limp mode and usually does not let the revs go above 3000 or so.

If there are no fault codes coming up does make it difficult to track down the problem, maybe worth paying for a proper diagnostic, a good fuel injection specialist should be able to help.

Thanks. There was also a problem some time ago with the fuel filter - kept cutting out due to air in one of the fuel pipes. Again, this was looked at by a garage.
