Hi all, good evening folks.
I’ve just decided that I’m going to buy a Qashqai and considering between a 2018, 2019 and 2020 models.
I’m just wondering technical wise are there any major difference year on year? E.g apple car play, around view monitor and such. Quite a geek myself in that aspect. Haven’t been able to find too much details around that area and would appreciate any shout!
Cheers
Difference between the j11b models

IMHO you need to avoid the 1.2 petrol engine and go for the 1.3 (or diesel). Early 2018s did not have CarPlay, make sure the car you buy is capable of running it, get a demo to be 100% sure. Late 2018 models are most likely to have it, but not all. Lower specs like the Acenta won't have the same level of goodies as the others, no surprises there. All around view should be pretty standard I think.

CarPlay - check the individual car as some early 2019 models (completely randomly) came without CarPlay
The 1.3 engine (both 140bhp and 160bhp) is very good.
The 1.2 engine has a bad reputation
Check it has a full Nissan service history
and, of course, buyer beware

Another question, came across a 1.5 Dci engine on a 2019 car. Is that an okay one or an avoid? Thanks!

I would only advise against 1.2 petrol engines and CVT gearbox models.

Welcome to this forum.
The main points have already been picked up.
Nissan have a policy of continual change so don't expect to precisely define a MY18, MY19 and MY20 car for instance. Changes are introduced seemingly at random.
The revised infotainment system (with CarPlay/AA but without SD card) took many months to get introduced across the board and when the engines changed we think they stockpiled a lot of cars awaiting parts.
The introduction of AdBlue caused problems for some diesels for the first few months but those should have been sorted now.
Note the 1.5 diesel is the only one with a cambelt so that needs changing at either 5 years or, variously, 60k, 72k, 75k, 90k miles. Usually quite cheap to do though.
Despite what pandjh says, the surround view monitor was only available on higher trim levels.
