Hi all,

I have a 2016 Qasqai Tenka J11.

I am getting the stop start error and then engine warning light and battery warning light. i have read mention here of a possible battery issue so i checked the battery and was getting 12.10v, when started this drops to 11.98v. Could the alternator be the cause of these faults, or a fuse somewhere?

Thanks for reading

Welcome to this forum.

A failing battery is very common on Qashqais. Is it the original? 5+ years old?

Id say it is the original battery ok, could it be the battery even though is dropping voltage while running?

Thanks

None of the DTCs are recognized for either diesel or petrol engines in diagnostics.

The battery could well be be inadequate as regards capacity. If its over 4 years old change it for an AGM battery.

Is this a diesel engine? If so at 152k its likely to have exhaust control problems...

Thanks for the replies.

Should I change the battery, should it not be getting higher voltage while running?

Could it still be battery or alternator?

No problems starting at all.

Check the battery volts with engine running...should be above 13.5v. If its 12v when engine is off and 13,5v or more when running the Alternator is ok.

Batteries will loose power slowly when not in use and for a car should not drop below about 12v. 11.8 is ok but any lower will be a problem.
