Used the sat nav for the first time on a long journey (80+ miles) on Wednesday to get to Edgbaston, about 3 or 4 miles away from the destination the Connect 4 rebooted itself. Had to re-select the destination when it came back up in order to restart the sat nav guidance. We had just started to enter one of the A38 tunnels in Birmingham, but I can't see how that should have caused a reboot, just a loss of signal maybe.

Connected the car up to my home wi-fi on returning home and upgraded the system software from version 808 to 818 (at least I think that was the newly reported number) and so am hoping that this version may help. That took 30+ minutes but worked fine. The map version reported as being up to date but didn't take a screen shot so don't have the version id for the maps.

Has anyone else with a J11b encountered problems with the Connect 4 rebooting itself ?

Thanks

I have a 2019 QQ with Android Auto and CarPlay where the unit has a meltdown if I update the maps (I do this via USB). It does a full system reset with all sorts going on upon next boot up. For that reason I no longer update the maps and rely only on Waze via Android Auto.

Thanks for the warning Pandjh, I will see what happens if they ever issue a new map update 👍

My Connect 4 occasionally re-boots itself now and again - as well as REFUSING to do map updates via USB (Keeps saying - Check USB or Ipod)

Will get Nissan to look at mine when it goes in for it's 1st MOT and major service in a week or so!!

Hope they sort it for you StampyNTFC. I've not even considered USB as at least mine updated ok via wi-fi :-) . Will have to see how things go since I updated the software as not due a service until January 2023.

Just as an update, car sailed through its 1st MOT on Monday, booked back in on Friday for them to have a look at the USB problem…

Engineer insisted that they only updated through Wi-Fi, until I showed him that you can also update via USB stick (or not, in my case)

The engineer needs a training course!

BTW, did a full update via USB a week ago and, again, the head unit had a full on meltdown yet again. It rebooted about 8 times in a row before accepting defeat and working properly once again, albeit with all user settings lost - except the programmed radio channels.

Right, car is back now....

According to Nissan, they have now STOPPED using USB to update the Maps and the USB ports are now only READ ONLY - hence why my MP3 USB stick works...

The said engineer was on the phone (apparently) to Nissan Technical Support for an hour trying to suss it all out...

The ONLY way to update the maps on my car now, is by WiFi....

Ahhh...I just bought one second and and this issue is driving me insane!! I wish I knew about this before! Looks like it's been going on for years. Nissan has to do something to fix this don't they? How easy/expensive would it be to change the system? I'm so frustrated

Successfully updated the system software a second time a week or so back, using the home wi-fi connection when prompted that an update was available, so now on software version 821. Took around 10 minutes and then the usual switch off for 20 minutes. No map updates currently available so haven't had to perform a map update yet.

Other than having to have the ignition / engine on during the updates are there any other reasons why USB is preferred ?
