Does auto headlights include dim daytime running LED mode?

Specifically the 2017-2021 Qashqai but I guess the 2014 and above is the same thing, the option between DRL and headlight is the dim DRL mode where the daytime running LEDs are dim and the rear tail lights are on, great for around sunset time.

When turning on auto headlights on the n-connecta, Tekna etc does it cycle through DRL>dim DRL>headlights on or it goes from DRL>headlights on and skipping the dim DRL mode? Because I rarely see any Qashqai on the road with dimmed DRL but I can’t be certain if they have auto headlights.

On my n-connecta (2017) and Tekna (2019) it seemed to be headlights on or headlights off
It happened in an instant and (I assume) didn’t pause to go via a "sidelights only" setting, if the computer settings on the car think it’s time for headlights, I guess it’s a straightforward binary on/off choice.

I agree with MikeGC.

Dim DRL mode can only be acheived manually.

Ah that’s such a shame, would’ve been nice to have dim DRL for like 10-15 mins before headlights turned on.

Sorry to disagree, dim DLR would be less useful than either full DLR or headlights.

By law the DRL must dim down by 50% when dipped beam headlights are on. I have seen a few people driving illegally at night with just their DRL on and it would then cause glare and be at 100% which should only be for daytime. Even worst, when this happens the tail lights would NOT be on.

Sorry but I simply cannot see the point in having what Mahammad suggests. Absolutely no benefit for the driver. A pointless unnecessary complication in my view.

Life is so much easier on a motorbike - just start the engine and the headlight's on! :)
