Have recently downsized from a Discovery 4 to a 2 year old diesel Qashqai and are finding the MPG figures amazing after the Discos 30 MPG.
Very easy to get 70+MPG and got over 80 once which was on the 8 mile return run from the supermarket so starting with a warm engine.
This has got me wondering what other folks best figures are - is 90MPG doable?
Amazing MPG

Welcome to the forum.
My 2017 diesel QQ topped out at about 68mpg - but that was using the brim-to-brim method rather than the car’s computer.

I had the car's computer saying 99.9 once - can't find the photo

That's remarkable.
My new J12 mild-hybrid gasoline engine Qashqai reported on one trip (downtown!) ... 52.27 MPG.
It is still there on my dashboard, but I know for a fact that must be a bug of some kind.
Even on long trips I struggle to get more than 35 MPG (which I still consider great for a gasoline car like that) .

Well done, brim to brim would be a hard ask for me - I can try real hard for a few journeys but a tank full is 700+ miles and I couldn't be disciplined for that long. Not thinking about it at all I get in the late sixties and my daughter who has the exact same car and pretty much drives like a hooligan still manages high fifties/early sixties. I should add we are in the sticks so all journeys are in our cases, 8+ miles on flowing country roads.

OK but 80 MPG even at 10% margin of error is way more than a lot of the hybrids out there.gloucester wrote: ↑Tue Apr 19, 2022 4:07 pm I had the car's computer saying 99.9 once - can't find the photo

I just sold my Land Rover Freelander 2.2 SD4 2014 because of the fuel consumption. I am totally retired now so have to watch the pennies a bit more.
With town driving & a couple of 20 mile there & 20 miles back journeys it was showing 26.8 average to the gallon. The Qashqai 1.5 DCI that I have had since last Thursday has done mostly town driving with just one 14 mile there & 14 mile back trip & is currently displaying 62 9, I am happy with that even if its a few miles out. I think on a longer run it will do more.
The Land Rover would do just under 40 mpg on a dual carriageway staying at 70 which I was pretty happy with but 26. 8 & with the cost of the fuel now a little too much for me now.

Well the FIRST thing to do is check the consumption by measuring how much you're actually using. When I get a new car I top it up as soon as I've driven off the forecourt. I put the nozzle right down and then stop at the third click - otherwise frothing can rob some of the capacity. Then religiously I can monitor the consumption at each top-up.
Computers vary - my Fabias were about 20% adrift - a known software problem that they never rectified. My WQashqai was pretty accurate averaging just 0.4mpg out on the pessimistic side. My Suzuki less so averaging 4.3mpg out on the optimistic side.
Then you'll know whether it's a measurement fault or a surprisingly large consumption, not something anyone else has reported.

.
The only time I have observed mpg in the range of 19 - 20 has been driving a couple of miles (return journey) in traffic (and biblical rainfall) to somewhere like the corner shop.
Not a fair test, in my humble opinion and although a shock it’s understandable
