One thing I hated about my Qashqai was not having AUX or even USB to play music. Nissan have not made it easy at all to plug and play headunits as other manufacturers. They all seem loom specific.; this is around from 2003 to 2013 there are so many stereo loom configurations and these looms are within the whole front dashboard. So it is either trying to splice the looms and find out what the wires are or removing the dashboard to change the complete loom!
I could have upgrade to many other modern units, the downside of doing this is I would lose the trip computer data. I thought if I had unplug the headunit that it would show up in the middle of the dashboard like other Qashqai, however it does not, so I would no longer have any trip computer data.

To start I had the HY00E (28185 JG44A) sat nav head unit. This has only the CD button below the FM.AM button.

So I bought this one of ebay which is practically the same and would not work with the earlier DVD SAT NAV system from a T31 X-Trail. It did not need a code to work and seems plug and play. (28185 JG45A) Paid £50

I then got an AUX port on ebay https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/403557036692 for £11 I went for this one as it had the connector and part of wiring into it already

I got an USB to AUX connector lead https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/265633631695 for £2

I compiled this of the Qashqai original wiring for the SAT NAV

From the AUX connector the red right goes to pin 36, left white pin 35 and black ground to pin 29
The left connector is the one.

I took the terminal pins from another connector I had from the my second hand tailgate loom. You can also cut off the 4wd selector connector to take pins out (if you have no 4wd) as it is the same type. I had then solder them onto a self created wiring loom to run from front to the arm rest.

Before placing it into the cars original connector loom I tested the sound of the AUX on the headunit and what a major difference than playing over some pathetic FM transmitter.

The armrest where it has to be located if you want it in the original location. Just remove the back cover which pulls out and easily drilled out from the other side.

Job done, to acess AUX, it has to be done by pressing SOURCE on the steering wheel

The same with the USB/AUX. I would have gone for a later unit with one like this but changed my mind.

If you are going for one with the built in USB you would need https://nissangenuine.com/nissan/nissan ... rness-sub/ and 240394AA1A
Also the connections for USB are
