Welcome to this forum.

I'm presuming you bought the car privately not through a dealer?

For clarity for others, looking at the brochures this appears to be a facelift 1.6 petrol with a CVT. Ideas people?

Whether that's a gearing auto selection or engine problem is very difficult to say.

I have bought this car from Chorley Nissan 8/4/22 I can’t see the used car manager till 18/4/22 has he’s on holiday. I also have notices there are cracks on both rear tyres, when I looked at the MOT history June 2021 there is a advisory for cracks in both rear tyres. When I phoned the showrooms concerning the tyres the man on the phone said the tyres must be ok, if they weren’t they would not of sold it to me. I will speak to the manager on the 18th also explaining I have already had a blowout years ago but I feel I am nervous to drive on these has I do a lot of motorway driving. Surly if the cracks were showing 11 months and 2400 miles ago they must be worse I hope I don’t have to buy these tyres myself. I am also speaking about the sometimes loss of speed.

I drive the 1.6 diesel with a CVT auto box, the big problem with CVT is they are quite happy to let the engine rev without appearing to go. If you use the cruise control I have found at the higher motorway speeds this seems to accelerate quicker. When you brake, you disengage the cruise control, if you then move the control to resume, when the road is clear, it will get to your previously stored speed quicker.

As regards cracks in the tyres, Nissan and many other dealers are not the best when checking tyres. I bought my car in 2019 and recently had a slow puncture on the rear tyres, or so I thought. In fact the air was leaking through the tread of the tyres, they were the original tyres fitted from new and were then getting on 9 years old. My caravan tyres are changed every 5 years and I am surprised car dealers do not do the same when selling their cars.

Just saw your photos, I am sure the 0216 on the bottom picture relates to the year of manufacture 2016, and personally I would not drive on motorways with those cracks.

I would look at the dealers website , see what it says about the checks they do on used cars before selling. Use this as a basis that the mot advisory checks should have been sorted before they sold it to you. If they refuse ask for the contact details of the managing director and raise it with him / her. They need to be replaced, no way would I pay. Good luck.

Just looked at Chorley Group website , ‘About us’ section. https://www.chorleygroup.co.uk/about-us ... y-from-us/

See section 8, they are proud that all cars have repeated checks, if they did the checks they should have picked up the tyres.

0216 = week/year = January 2016.

Nothing wrong with the tyres personally. I trained up at Michelin HQ around 15 years ago. Looks like one has 1118 (11th week in 2018) and (0216 2nd week in 2016) They are done on a 52 week basis.
The sidewalls of many conto tyres tend to have cracks like that after a few years. Unless you get bulges or cuts on the sidewalls I would not bother. I had Conti sport contact 3 on my Focus RS, they did have sidewall cracks after a few years and I did track days with speeds of up to 140mph and never had any problems.
