Hey everyone,
Just wondering if any of you with the J12 have setup up or installed a dashcam? Interested in knowing what model you went with and how the install went?
I looked at the dealer dashcam (Phillips model - which looks the same as the J11 one by part number??) and it's not a great resolution.
Any advice on a good model would be much appreciated as I've been stung in the past with "cheap" amazon ones in the past.
Cheers
Steve

I have installed Blackvue DR900X Plus 2CH camera on mine. It has both front and rear cameras. Wasn't definitely the cheapest option out there. Currently it's powered through the 12V socket, but once it gets a bit warmer outside (Finland and cold winters) I'll hardwire it so I can use the parking mode. No real problems with install.
Here are photos viewtopic.php?p=91249#p91249 of my install
Here is where you need to pull the cable through to get it to rear window viewtopic.php?p=91222#p91222

I've fitted the next base 522GW front and rear camera in my was quite easy as long as you have patience. It's the HD model and works well with the nextbase app would recommend it.

Did you wire to fuse box or just to the 12v socket??

Fusebox, it was quite straightforward but you'll need to get some fuse connectors, as the ones that come with the Nextbase Dashcam install kit are too big.

If you buy your dashcam directly from Nextbase they will fit it for £65, plus you make a saving on not having to buy a hardwire kit. They will fit at your home, office etc. I think it would be money well spent letting them fit it.

Interesting - would that include a rear camera too?
However note that their website currently notes:
Professional Home Fitting - £89.00
And for clarity I also read:
Our fitters will only fit brand new Nextbase Dash Cams purchased either directly via the Nextbase website, or via an approved retailer.

Welcome to this forum.
Why not simply wire it into the fusebox with a piggy-back connector like most people do (if not simply plugged in)?
(Please also note you've responded to a J12-specific topic)
