Hi
My alarm started going off randomly, multiple times and I was told the battery was going to be need to be replaced on the siren. This would cost approx _£400-500 minimum and Ive been recommended (by Nissan) its not worth paying this out for my 2010 Qashqai and to find a mechanic who can disconnect it. My ,mechanic said he didnt know, However as time has gone on the alarm is going off for about an hour at a time... I switch it off and it continues between 2 and 10 minutes later. Last night it did this between 2am and 3 am.
Is there any way I can disconnect the siren at all? Or am I going to have to track down a mechanic?
Has anyone else had this problem? How did you solve it?
Thanks
Sarah

Yeah thanks. Have done all and awaiting call back from mechanic. Hoping to solve myself if poss to save money. However, may be something that has to be done by trained person. Was just wondering if others have had similar prob.

Remember if you DO decide simply to disconnect it you'll have to advise your insurance company that it's no longer working.
However I'd have thought that if it's simply a failing rechargeable battery you should be able to get an alarm specialist to replace the battery. That's what I did on my house alarm.

For obvious reasons I am not going to say where it is located, but if it was your car, you should easily locate it with the sound going off. Even if you disconnect the alarm siren, they tend to have a back-up battery so can still stay going off for at least an hour.
Not sure where you was told it would cost £400-500, you are better off going to a scrap yard for one, it would be peanuts compared to that cost.

To the OP, did you end up finding a resolution to this? I have a 2008 Qashqai tekna with a similar problem: the alarm goes off but usually when I haven't used the car for 3-4 days. I'm not able to deactivate the siren and I usually end up driving it about until it eventually switches off on its own!
I went to Nissan and they were useless (their diagnosis was shockingly basic) despite their premium price tag after. I went to a car audio specialist and he did a more thorough investigation before determining that it's likely to do with wiring being negatively affected by humidity. He suggested the cheapest option was to just disengage the siren part..

As a further update, I attempted to remove the alarm siren - which I achieved. However, the car won't start.
And when I plug the siren back in, the alarm gets triggered
I'm calling a car audio/alarm specialist tomorrow so hopefully he'll have ideas (given Nissan themselves have been useless).
If anyone has any ideas that would be great - I presume I'd need to reset the NATS but I've no idea how to do that (and am a little done with the DIY)!!

The Alarm System and Siren control is commanded by the Body Control Module (BCM). BCM receives all door (5) closure signals (locked) and the hood/bonnet switch separately. There are individual control modules for the Siren itself and Internal Sonar sensors..If there are internal Sonar sensors can they be switched off?
I won't post the Alarm diagram as it may not be quite right and really you don't want to see it. There is also CAN Bus Comms for BCM, IPDM (Power Controller) and the Intelligent Key system..if you have it? That would be some condition data handling that may or may not be a problem?
There are a number of DTCs or error codes that can be picked up ...likley only by the Nissan special Scanner.
Also check the hood switch is electrically working ok.
If its not simple wiring then the problem is awkward without the right test equipment (Nissan proprietry).
