Hello,
We had an incident of the seatbelt being caught between the door sensor and the surface on the door that the sensor contacts. Looks as if the door has bent, causing the sensor to not detect the door being closed.
If I remove the door panel, is it possible to get behind the door to bend this surface back to shape - or is there any way to adjust the sensor to have more "travel"
Many thanks in advance
Nick

Welcome to this forum.
Someone else was recently enquiring about access to the door sensor but I don't know whether resolution was reached. But I thought that was the sensor in the door post not the door.
Can anyone elaborate please on exactly how the sensors work?

They definitely are in the pillar as you mention. They should easily be able to take out to replacegloucester wrote: ↑Sat Mar 05, 2022 5:50 pm Welcome to this forum.

OK - so I conclude that the question is "Does a minor dent in the edge of the door, just in alignment with the door sensor in the pillar, mean the sensor won't detect the door and thus not think the door is closed?" and I'd have thought unlikely unless it's a pretty big dent!
How does the sensor work anyone? It's not something I've ever considered on a Qashqai. (On my Ignis it's the conventional "rubber nipple" switch on the door pillar).
Presumably not like my house alarm where there's a sensor on the door frame and a magnet on the door itself? If it is could the magnet have been knocked off?

hi,
I am having the same issue right now. Its a very small dent but the car alarm keeps going off because of it (well thats what they said at the nissan dealership). Any updates on your car? I asked a repair shop and they are saying £250.

No the door sensor is working. When I open the door, it says the door is open in the screen and the interior light comes on, and when I close the door, the interior lights go off and in the screen, it doesn’t say the door is open

So this little dent is causing the alarm to go off?

That’s what I was thinking as well and other mechanics said the same thing, I did put tape over it as well and it still went off. I’m gonna have to talk to the dealership because it’s only been 3 months.
