Something else heading our way it appears. Various latent impacts....
"On 30th June 2022 The Electric Vehicles (Smart Charge Points) Regulations come into force (1). All home installed electric vehicle chargers will be required to be separately metered and send this information to the Smart meter data communications network".
I barely listen to any media because it is mainly repetitive toxic crap IMO. Has been for a very long time. Advent of Digital channels likely the trigger point and being a major irritating advertising platform.
Interesting. Nothing to stop you plugging into 13A socket though - my brother did when he visited and he's been doing so at his own house to which he's recently moved and which doesn't yet have a dedicated charger.

They aren't making this transition easy for people
Did you read the article:
Potentially this legislation allows the electricity used for charging EVs to be charged and taxed at a higher rate than domestic electricity. The technology enacted also enables the rationing of electricity for EV charging because the government can decide when and if an EV can be charged, plus it also allows the EV battery to be drained into the grid if required.

Nope I didn't...but I seemed to surprisingly accurate for once for someone who isn't that interested in EVs. Yet another nail in the EV coffin

It is INEVITABLE that the transition from fossil-fuelled to electric vehicles WILL mean tax changes. Road tax presently brings in a huge amount of money for the government and only a fraction is spent on the road infrastructure (let's not talk railways here!).
Personally I feel the ONLY SENSIBLE option is road pricing - i.e. a tax per mile of travel - but there is HUGE resistance to such a change!
