Yes, I would agree with you about the tailgate warning beeps
Foffer wrote: Sun Dec 19, 2021 9:21 pm Not very good so far!

My teckna+ auto is averaging 32mpg after 500 miles whereas my old equivalent spec Qashqai was doing 38mpg and the journeys have been the same.

Maybe it will get better as it loosens up? I won't be very happy if it doesn't!

Short review so far:

Good: Much more comfortable, better driving position, more and better gizmos, much better ride, even quieter

Bad: Less sporty feel, throttle response delay, tailgate warning beeper so loud it wakes up all the neighbours!

Overall: Great car, much better than the old (apart from mpg?)

Same journeys same load:-

My J11 spec as below did 38mpg over 20,000 miles, which was same as the official figure.

My J12 spec as below has done 32mpg over its first 1000 miles, official figure 43 mpg.

If this is what happens when you go hybrid, I'm glad this one's only mild!

I have a regular 50 mile run from Herne Bay to SE London. Trying my hardest to get the best mpg I could such as following lorries at about 55mph and being very gentle on the throttle, I managed 59mpg with the J11. On the J12 the best I can get is 49mpg.

Mine has gone up now I’ve reached over the 1000 miles on the clock.

On longer runs I can get around 49mpg. It’s still nowhere near what I have been used to with the previous qashqai but I suppose I’ll just have to get used to that now.

If MPG was *that* important to me I would still opt for Diesel.
Why even bother with gasoline or mild hybrid if best consumption is most important ?
After also seeing this video my conclusion is that the QQ J12 QQ is about as good as it gets for that 1332 cc / 156 BHP Turbo engine.
So glad that I got the MT6 transmission and not a CVT (because I don't want to adapt my driving style to CVT transmission at all ... being gentle with it to not break it : easy does it ... that's not for me !).
It is also easy to see that a +2l gasoline engine won't get you stellar average MPG that a (max) 1.0l engine may offer us.
Not seeing any surprising results !???
True hybrid cars may be a solution to get better MPG, but at a substantial financial cost and, IMHO, therefore not worth it if saving money is the ultimate goal.
An EV may be the best solution, but only if you are planning to sell the car before the battery drain is getting worse and again saving money is not your true motive.
After all I have seen and read I still believe that either a diesel or a non-hybrid gasoline engine is the most economical way of driving.
But of course ... YMMV ! ???

That video was brilliant lesson for anyone that is new to CVT gearboxes. I have had them for years, my current b-class has one and my wife's Honda has one.
When I need to drive economically (I do a lot of miles each year) they do give great results but when I am driving with a heavy foot for the 'fun of it', they are terrible. Thankfully the J12 is very quiet and the excessive revving was barely noticeable on the test drive.
I was pleasantly shocked at how high his MPG was whilst staying at speed limits.
As QaiFan said, if you aren't willing to adapt your driving, CVT is definitely not the route for you.

I am booked in for another hours drive on Monday so I will report back with the best and worst MPG. (Covid caused a cancellation of the last one)

As I’ve gone over the 2000 miles it seems to be picking up on the motorway.

This was literally a 6 mile drive on the motorway in sport on the slip road then eco the rest of the way.

This was last topped up with BP fuel and by far the best MPG I have got yet! Still only 245 miles to £45 though.

I only had a quick 30 minute drive in the Xtronic as someone else was booked in for a test drive in it.

In very heavy traffic, constantly starting and stopping, 26mpg

In a 40 mph zone, straight level roads, gentle sweeping corners with no traffic, deliberately trying to maximise the economy, 47mpg

National speed limit zone, driving aggressively with a mix of everything, it dropped to 19mpg
Edit... Everything apart from long roads at constant speeds like a dual carriageways/motorways
