Hi all.
I live in Austria and here we have a problem with Marder or Martens. Like weasels. They are very territorial and get very aggressive when another one turns up on their patch. They go crazy and start to chew through cables, pipes and anything soft. Cause major(expensive!) damage.
You can get Marder protection which will give out a mild electrical shock to the Marder if it touches one of the plates, a bit like a cattle/sheep electric fence. As they obviously do not go in the car engine bay when you drive it, the system should only be active when the car is parked and the ignition is off. I have one of these systems but I need to connect it up to a terminal that activates it when the ignition is off and deactivates when the ignition is on. In the instructions they call it 'Terminal 15' and say its on the ignition lock or radio plug.
The Unit is also connected to the positve battery terminal with a fused cable and to the negative terminal for earth and has a very low draw on the battery. If I do not use this 'Terminal 15' the unit will be permanently on, not my prefered option.
Does anyone know what and where this 'Terminal 15' is on a Qashqai? Or can anyone suggest an alternative workaround.
I have a good basic understanding of electrics but I am by no means an expert!

Nice one! :D

I suspect you will have a problem with the power control embodied in this car. Both BCM and IPDM control the powering of the vehicle and particularly when Ignition OFF occurs. In short the power system goes into a sleep mode which mainly allows the Security system (NATS) to remain AWAKE. The status here is minimal battery discharge. Most of this is to do with START/STOP preservation...Battery saving in other words.

I think you will have to manually connect to the Battery for power otherwise the Power Management is going to leave your device OFF when you want it ON and ON when you are driving. Not the desired condition really.

Terminal 15. I don't think anybody has J11b circuit diagrams but Terminal 15 on a J11a car is actually the Battery +ve connector. Using that would require a separate switch to your device.
