Battery problems on 2019 1.3
On the 12th of March 2024 I bought a Nissan Qashqai 1.3 DiG-T N- Connecta from Nissan main dealer at Newbridge Edinburgh. The carried out a number of check's which included checking the state of the battery. The said that they had charged it, checked the battery, charging system and there were no problems. On the 26/03/2024 after complaining a number of times about having to charge the battery every second night they replaced it part number KE24170E01EF. this is my 4th Qashqai and on each of them I have fitted a CTEK battery sense so that I can check on the state of the battery, with no problems on the first 3. It is now the beginning of October 2024, and now having the same problems with this battery as I had with the first. The car is booked into Nissan on the 15th of this month to try to locate the problem, at the cost of £144.00. But they are continuing to say that the problem will be the aftermarket part that I have fitted the CTEK battery sense. I have contacted CTEK and they say that the draw with the sense is Les than 1 mA @ 12.5 V. I know that I do a lot of short journeys and because of that I have the CTEK CT5 Start/Stop charger to keep the battery up to scratch and maintain it. Has anyone else had these problems and if you have what was found with the system.
Thank you Andy, I took the CTEK of on Monday to see what happens, I have noticed that since I had the thermostat housing replaced at my own expense (for peace of mind) the electric fan runs and does so for about 10 minutes after I switched off. This morning before I went out in the car after charging the volt meter was reading 12.95 V when I came back it was at 12.56V and while it was running dropped down to 12.10V after fan stopped it came back up to 12.50 V so don’t know if the fan could be part of the problem. The fan wasn’t doing that before they changed the housing.
