I drive a J10 2012 DCI 1.5
I have some issues currently. A 'whistling' noise when driving that wasn't there prior. Has also changed its sound a little when idle. I have replaced the oil and oil filter recently, as well as the fuel filter.
When the engine heats up, it smells like burnt plastic as I think maybe the gearbox is funky. It has jumped out of gear (5th) a few times and also has a 'hick-up' when rev'ing it up to 3000rpm.
The repair shop said the gearbox had to be replaced and then possibly the clutch as well, meaning it doesn't make sense financially to do it.
Have anyone had similar issues? This is a last gap resort, I don't distrust the dealer/repair shop at all, just wondering if there are cheaper ways out there. Been quoted £1500+ and upwards with a bit uncertainity if it will fix the sound from the engine.
