It is definitely a manufacturing when it has happened to so many cars with little miles on them! .. yeah like juddering, pulling backwards every now and again. Jerking might be the right word. Something just wasn't right!

When driving down the road the car was pulling but the car had no warning signs. We got home which was two mins away. We knew something wasnt right and looked in the bonnet. There was still coolant in the car, we turned the engine on again and the thermostat housing flew off and the coolant went everywhere so we turned the car off. The car only has 28k mile, 2019 car and we have only had it for 20 months. The warranty expired oct 2022. Nissan got the car in for a diagnostics test and it confirmed engine has blew costing 8.2k. We are awaiting Nissan getting back to confirm what the goodwill gesture would be. Reading all these comments I am so angry and feel i shouldnt have to pay anything. I have seen people have contacted watchdog and the DVSA. Is there anything I can do to help and get these cars recalled?
Sadly, Nissan have not issued a recall and therefore 'goodwill' is all anyone can hope for. Mine is due to have its housing replaced tomorrow and I have asked them to retain it and put a note on the report that the engine seems undamaged...however, I'll be surprised if they actually do the second bit, but then that is why I took it to the specialists!

When I get my part returned, I'm thinking of seeing what the interest is on this site for us clubbing together to get an independent FEA analysis of several of the failed parts. This could provide an independent assessment of the failure mode and hopefully give people here something legitimate to stick in front of both Nissan and their own lawyer if looking to recover money on replacement engines, T/C housings and labour. It could also be sent to the motor ombudsman and DVSA.
I feel like I'm really stuck as I can't afford a new engine and the car is on PCP. If they don't agree to pay for it or a large percentage, I will be left to pay for a car that is worth nothing. I would definitely be up for getting together to fight against this! Hope you get your car sorted as well.

I would be happy to donate my old part that isn’t broken yet to be tested if it helps. It’s off my 2019 with about 49000 miles on it.

My Qashqai hasn't suffered from this failure but having read so many stories about this part on here and other forums / Facebook, + Nissans shocking attitude of denying anything is wrong with this part, i have decided to part company with mine and get rid before any failure, my first and last Nissan, good luck to all members looking to get Nissan to admit the problem..

Hi, new user. Recently picked up a 1.3 j11 2019 so this thread is quite concerning to me. Also heading here after reading about an another user whose car broke yesterday on Facebook.

Looking to get the part replaced by my local mechanic, a couple of q’s though

1) can I locate the thermostat housing without disconnecting anything to scan the code to check part?

2) 110600260R is the correct replacement code?

Thanks

1) yes though if no QR code can be seen it would suggest it's an older part.

2) yes, I have seen no posts quoting anything newer.

ImageI have the 2019 1.3
I've taken photos of mine but the QR code won't scan.
Can someone confirm if this is the old part ?
I bought it with 15,000 miles on, it's now done 32,000.
