Hi
I thinking of buying a qashqai 1.3 DIG t acenta premium, probably a 2020 reg with 15k on clock and will keep it for 5 years.
I know there are common faults with this engine that can be easily fixed, but what should I be concerned about about before I buy?
Are they actually a reliable engine?
I currently own a 1.2 tsi SEAT 94000 miles for 6 years with 100 % reliability. I've been looking at another SEAT but not keen on a 1 litre 3 cylinder engine.

Welcome to the Forum Firestarter1 !

I retired a couple of years ago in March 2022 and purchased an early 2020 1.3 DIG-t 140 n-Connecta with 10,000 miles on the clock. Coming from company car ownership I took out an extended Nissan 3 year warranty for peace of mind as I hadn't had to worry about any car costs for a few years and was a little nervous.

I have done around 15,000 miles in two years and found it to be very reliable and economical - I did hanker after the more powerful 160 version of the engine but couldn't find one in the right spec at the time and don't have any regrets. The 1.3 140 is pokey enough for me and has no trouble in traffic or on the motorway.

The only trouble I have had is a front passenger door actuator failure (door wouldn't open from inside but would from the outside) and that was fixed at zero cost to me under the extended warrany last month with no quibles.

Still on the original OEM Michelin Primacy tyres at 25,000 miles but with about 3-4mm tread left on the front and 5mm on the rear, but will probably replace these soon as at 4 years old one is showing signs of perishing - it probably stood a lot during Covid which doesn't help rubber.

Just had an MOT and front discs / pads were reported to be at 70% wear with a slight lip on the discs so will need to replace them sometime later in the year.

Only other cost is a set of wiper blades :-)

I have no worries recommending a J11B Qashqai - you generally only see the problems on here rather than all the ones that run trouble free.

Good luck with your choice

Why don't you try to build your own specs of nissan qashqai?

They have this nissan configurator https://www.nissan.co.za/vehicles/new/qashqai.html

Buying second hand shouldn’t be a nightmare.
The only common faults I am aware of are the condensers being vulnerable to stone strikes and the thermostat housing issue.
Follow icesteelman and get the extended warranty and if you buy from Nissan do the maths on a service plan (saves a little money but avoids the annual kick in the wallet at service time)

Good Luck

Good point about the service plan MikeGC !

I took one out for the three years covering the extended warranty, not particularly to save money but to spread the cost (around £25 per month) and also keep the servicing with Nissan just in case I had any warranty issues that needed sorting. If they've serviced it at the correct intervals then should be less likely to quible and more likely to help if an issue is not clear cut.

"It's great that you're considering the Qashqai as your next car. Reliability is a key factor when making such a decision, especially if you've had a positive experience with your current vehicle. The 1.3 DIG T Acenta Premium is generally a reliable engine, but it's wise to do some research and check for any common issues or recalls for the specific model year you're interested in.Checking out Car news India is a good idea to stay informed about the latest developments and reviews in the automotive world. The "1.3 DIG T Acenta Premium" is not an engine, so I think you're a bot.
