Bike Rack!!

Help!. Going on holiday tomorrow. One of the reasons I bought a larger vehicle was to take bikes on holiday. The manual says that any accessories attached to the rear tailgate will damage the vehicle, which I think is a bit of a face saving clause. However, its impossible to fit a rear bike rack with the automatic tailgate. If it could be switched off or disabled it would work I am sure. Any advice/experience?

No one's previously asked about disabling the tailgate.

Why would you need to disable it? They don't open of their own accord.

You might also check with your insurers about fitting a rack there when it's against manufacturer's recommendations.

The tailgate is not made of metal which is probably why it would risk being damaged.
