I am looking to buy a used 2023 Qashqai 1.5 E Power but was wondering if the Teckna+ is liable for the premium rate car tax? I understand that if the cars original list price is £40K and over you would need to pay an additional £410 car tax per year.

I would say so ..

If you go to; https://vehicleenquiry.service.gov.uk/
Put in your Car Reg and scroll down the bottom ..

If you see this line (which shows up for me on mine so the date likely to be different);

Additional Rate applicable until 30 June 2030

Then that's the extra rate of VED from year 2, so you are paying the higher extra rate for the Premium VED. I think it's daylight robbery personally, it is not a "luxury" car, and that £40k should have been raised years ago - but as usual, just like Income Tax Bandings, they've not moved for years, so the government can put it's dirty hands in our pockets once more (rant over).

Yes, you will get right royally stuffed by the Tekna Plus list price.

I bought an epower tekna being aware of the £40k rule. There was nothing in the + that I wanted anyway.

Same. Also the reason I didn't bother with the fog lights option and the Bose sounds.

Thanks for all your replies. I’ve now just bought a 73 plate Teckna instead. It seems to have most things I need.

How has your experience been with the performance and features of the 73 plate Teckna over the past one months? Are there any standout features or aspects you particularly enjoy?
