If the manual says you need an oil change at 1500 miles then get one done... if it doesn't then the engine doesn't need it.
Engine components take time to bed in so they're urging restraint whilst that happens. The aim is to prolong the life of the engine in the long run.
For mine I did no more than 3000 rpm for 1st 600 miles, then occasional max of 4000 rpm until 1000 miles. Ie get the engine used to normal activity gradually.
