Qashqai Model: Mk.3 Qashqai - J12 (2021+) New Model

Chuffed so far with my move from the j11 tekna plus 1.6 dig-t.
The new model is more refined by some distance.
Despite the 20” wheels road noise is lower, feels more solid and lots more features. Also noticed a slightly bigger boot being very handy whilst collecting some shopping.
The CarPlay is useful too, reciting my WhatsApp’s verbally and me speaking my reply whilst driving.
Fuel economy currently seems a little lower but is to be expected of a new car for now..
Lots of features to play with and head turning looks with it being a new model.
All good so far with the only negative being a sometimes slow pull away, the mild hybrid battery charges whilst in motion with foot off accelerator so initial journeys can be sluggish off roundabouts. Sport mode may help? Will try.

I noticed this on the test drive. It feels like turbo lag?
I thought my driving style would adapt

Yes I did too. Think it’s not turbo lag because almost flooring the accelerator doesn’t help initially. As I say, when you’ve seemingly put a bit of charge un the battery by coasting it’s ok.
I feel a software recall may come about, or as I say I might try the sport mode to see if that helps.
One thing I didn’t mention is that the gearing is better, ie not feeling the need to change up so often.

Is it an auto? The new model auto uses a CVT which is basically a belt-driven gear system. There's usually a little bit of elasticity in the belt and that can absorb some of the initial torque.

It was the xtronic I test drove but it definitely had that same trait. I'd be interested in hearing any developments

Interesting that had the same feel then. I think a software update could be needed as I say.

This is the main fact that is putting me off - the current engine setup is so good

Hi,

I have the manual and I’ve found it only sluggish in eco when pulling away but when you put it in to sport mode, it picks up quickly which I was relatively surprised about.

I’ve also noticed fuel economy isn’t great either, it’s had £80 in it over 1 week and I’ve barely been anywhere 😭 I can’t remember if my other new car was like this as it was back in 2013 when I got one but I am hoping once it’s bedded in, this will improve. Or is that a myth? Haha
